A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Phoenix on Saturday night, authorities said.
Jeremy Ortiz, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene, KNXV-TV reported.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the incident occurred at about 6:48 p.m. MST, according to the television station. Ortiz was a pedestrian when he was struck by the motorist, The Arizona Republic reported.
Officers arriving at the scene requested medical help from the Phoenix Fire Department, according to the newspaper.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene and has not been identified, according to KNXV.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
