Zoo staffers decided to name the baby Obi, according to the post.

“An obi is part of a Japanese kimono and coincidentally the name of a favorite ‘Star Wars’ character,” the post read. “Since red-crowned cranes are found in southeastern Russia, northeast China, Mongolia and eastern Japan, the name honors the crane’s Asian heritage.”

Red-crowned cranes are considered endangered, according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute.

“With about 2,000 birds remaining in the wild, this newborn is an important addition to the red-crowned crane population in human care and their family across the globe,” the Palm Beach Zoo wrote on Facebook.

The cranes, which are just “a few inches tall” and about 120 grams at birth, grow to about 4 1/2 feet tall by the age of 3 months, the zoo wrote.
