Dog missing since July 4 found, reunited with family

A dog that had been missing from his family for 290 days, a four-footed family member, is back home.

Fisher had gotten lost on July 4 when his family was in Ocean City, Maryland, WMDT reported.

According to the Facebook group “Find Fisher!” the 2-year-old Boston terrier had learned how to open the door of the family’s rental unit.

He didn’t have his collar on but had been microchipped. He was also in his harness and a blue and yellow bandanna.

The family scoured the Ocean City area hanging up hundreds of posters and starting the Facebook group, doing almost anything to find their missing pup.

They even hired a dog tracker and a trained canine that searched for Fisher, but eventually lost the scent, Ocean City Today reported in August.

For months his family kept holding out hope that Fisher would eventually be found.

And after nine months, he was.

On Tuesday, a family said they spotted a dog that looked like Fisher roaming around a neighborhood in Baltimore. The dog was wearing a collar but didn’t have any tags. But thanks to the microchip, a veterinarian confirmed it was the long-lost dog.

Elissa Battista said as soon as she saw the photo that had been shared on a different missing dog Facebook page, she knew it was Fisher.

He has been reunited with his family and other than an injured paw, he’s healthy, WMDT reported.
