16-year-old pilot delivers much-needed supplies to fight coronavirus pandemic

While many teens may be spending time playing video games and hanging out with friends, one 16-year-old is making sure that those fighting the coronavirus pandemic on the front lines have the equipment they need.

TJ Kim is using his pilot license to fly much-needed personal protective equipment to medical centers in need.

This weekend, the Virginia teen flew from Leesburg, Virginia, to the North Central West Virginia Airport in Bridgeport, West Virginia, to deliver PPE to Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s chief administration officer, WBOY reported.

He carried 14 boxes packed with 5,000 pieces of PPE.

But this isn’t the first time Kim flew supplies to locations that needed it most.

In October, when he made a delivery to TidalHealth in Salisbury, Maryland, he estimated that he had flown about 50,000 supplies to hospitals as part of Operation Supplies Over the Skies, also known as Operation SOS, WMDT reported.

He made his first delivery in March, The Associated Press reported in April.
