ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Mitchell Bentz, a former swim coach at St. Johns Country Day School, was arrested Monday for attempting to solicit a child for sex, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested the 24-year-old after their Internet Crimes Against Children and Forensics Unit conducted an extensive investigation involving a child being exploited online in April.

According to CCSO, Bentz sent several “lewd images” to the child.

Bentz is being charged with soliciting a child for unlawful sex using a computer and with transmission of material harmful to a minor by electronic device.

Bentz will appear in court on Tuesday.
