Northwest Jacksonville home with 3 adults inside shot into multiple times, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect after a home in Northwest Jacksonville with three people inside it was shot into early Tuesday morning.

Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of West Eighth Street after ShotSpotter technology detected that six shots had been fired.

As police were canvassing the area, a man walked out of his home and told police that a man began shooting into his home through the front window, according to an incident report.

The man told police that the shooter knocked on his front door, and the man asked who was knocking. The suspect responded, though the response is redacted in the report.

After that, the suspect began shooting through the front window, the report said.

Two women were also in the home at the time of the shooting and were in different back rooms of the house.

They told police they did not see who was shooting into the home, but they did hear the shots.

Officers “observed multiple bullet strikes on the front windows and interior walls” as well as “several bullet casings outside of the residence,” the report said.

According to the report, the unknown suspect is accused of attempted murder.
