Jacksonville, FL — The Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q near the St. Johns Town Center was gutted by fire Monday night. It started just before 10 pm as four employees were inside. No one was hurt. Video showed smoke pouring from the restaurant that is next to the Wawa on Skinner Lake Drive, just off Gate Parkway and JTB.
The owner, Joe Adeeb, says he plans to rebuild and welcome customers back.
“One of our employees went out back to do closing procedures and said there was fire coming out back by where our smokers are”, Adeeb said.
The state fire marshal was expected to begin an investigation into what caused the fire today. Bono’s has been a staple of NE Florida since the 1940’s.
