Game of golf baseball in Jacksonville will mark 50 days until THE PLAYERS

Jacksonville — Golf baseball is a hybrid of the two sports where players tee off from home plate before running the bases. There will be a game Monday at Clanzel Brown Community Center & Park to mark 50 days until THE PLAYERS Championship.

“THE PLAYERS is so proud of the City of Jacksonville and city and community leaders of organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida and First Tee for their investment in and commitment to improving communities,” says Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS.

He says a big part of their effort is growing the game of golf while making it more accessible and engaging for everyone in the community.

Rice will be playing in Monday’s game along with several city leaders and other dignitaries.

“The Clanzel Brown Sports Complex is positioned to have a positive brand, impact, and quality of life for long term social, physical and economic impact,” says City Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, who will be playing in the game.

The game will shine a spotlight on the efforts from THE PLAYERS and the City of Jacksonville to create a sport and recreation complex at the Clanzel Brown Community Center & Park. The park will undergo improvements, supporting a variety of sports.

The First Tee of Jacksonville is located at the Brentwood Golf Course, less than a half mile from the Clanzel Brown Park.

The community is encouraged to come out to the game on Monday where there will shaved ice, music and prizes.

The game runs from 2 to 3 p.m. at 4575 Moncrief Rd. with welcome remarks at 1:30.
