If you’re thinking about freshening up a room with a new coat of paint, chances are you’re not searching for a color that reminds you of broccoli soup... or that nasty green stuff that showed up during your last cold.
But apparently somebody at Sherwin-Williams thinks it’s worth another shot.
The paint company has officially named its “Loneliest Color”—meaning it spends most of its life sitting on a shelf, waiting for someone, anyone, to take it home.
The unfortunate winner? A shade called “Offbeat Green.”
Sherwin-Williams describes it as a “vivid, citric lime green that reflects a growing desire for individuality.” That’s one way to put it. Another way might be: “What happens when a tennis ball and a bowl of asparagus soup have a baby.”
Despite its lack of popularity, the company isn’t giving up on it. They’re featuring Offbeat Green in a new marketing campaign and partnering with LeBron James’ foundation, where the color will even make an appearance on a front door.
So don’t feel bad if you’ve never used Offbeat Green. Apparently, almost nobody else has either.
