MIAMI — Florida’s Zoo Miami has welcomed not one but two baby giraffes in less than a week.
According to WTVT and WSVN, just days after mother Mia, 14, welcomed a male giraffe calf on Friday, 6-year-old Zuri delivered a female calf on Monday. Both newborns were fathered by 4-year-old Malcolm, the zoo said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
The male calf, who weighed 181 pounds at birth, made his public debut Monday. The female, born weighing 119 pounds, was expected to make her debut Wednesday, the zoo said. The babies, who have not yet been named, are the 54th and 55th giraffes to be born at the zoo, respectively, according to the Facebook post.
